Hello, my name is Richard Evans-Lacey, welcome
to my website. I hope you find the content
interesting and that it gives you a bit of a feel for
who I am and how I work. If you like what you see and
have any questions or would like a chat about how we
could work together then please get in contact.
My personal philosophy and style has developed from
a combination of extensive formal training, an enquiring
mind and an experimental approach.
I believe that emotional discomfort, difficulty
in life, relationship discord and the symptoms of physical
dis-ease are all signposts that can point us toward
the deeper root causes. The approaches I use
can be effective for all issues with a psychological
component including:
Generally high levels of 'negative' emotions such
as anger, sadness, fear, guilt, grief, dread, anxiety,
loneliness and jealousy
Self limiting beliefs such as "I'm not good
enough", "I'm a failure", "I'm
bad", "I can't ..."
Reactions such as panic attacks, phobias, erectile
dysfunction, premature ejaculation, fear of public
speaking
States of being such as depression, low self-esteem,
lack of confidence, workplace stress, internal conflict
and lack of direction
Addictions (giving up cigarettes or drugs), compulsions
such as OCD
Food related issues such as overeating / weight
loss, anorexia and bulimia
Relationship issues in the family, at work or at
home including sexual relationships
Relationship with life events including bereavement,
post-traumatic stress and recovery from physical and
sexual abuse
Some clients find therapy has the side-effect of
helping alleviate 'physical' illnesses such as IBS,
skin complaints, back problems, selective deafness
and postural issues
For some clients this is their first experience of
therapy or coaching, others may have been working on
themselves for so long that they are becoming somewhat
jaded. In all cases the results that we achieve are
dependent on our ability to work together as a team.
To the extent that you are honest, curious and willing
to change I am confident that you will get what you
really want.
I start from the position that, at the highest
level, everything is good, true and beautiful.
To the extent that we are not experiencing this in our
day to day lives then we must be experiencing some kind
of distorted view of the world: we are confused about
reality.
The state of confusion has come to mean being bewildered
or perplexed but its original meaning is to be mingled
together. I hypothesize that all distortion and suffering
is due to the mingling of our energy with the energy
of others. When we become emotionally fused with (unhealthily
attached to) others we loose our core sense of who we
are and our ability to do what we want. Tensions and
pressures that are created between us. The prescription
for confusion is simple: let go of all energy that does
not belong to us and accept back all energy that does.
In sessions I work with clients to identify and separate
from any metaphorical thing that doesn't belong to or
serve them. These can be inside the body such as other
people's emotions and beliefs (usually mixed up with
their own), racing thoughts in the head or anxious knots
in the stomach; or outside such as black clouds above,
constrictive bands around or heavy weights across the
shoulders. The complement to this is the work to reconcile
and re-unite those aspects of a client that have become
separate. These too can be inside the body such as bottled
up emotions or the contents of boredom, emptiness or
emotional black holes (repression); or outside such
as defensive shields, bubbles, prison cells and observing
positions (dissociation).
As you come back to yourself you become more healthy,
confident, effective and attractive because there is
more of you living life in the here and now.
Our sessions together
I usually work face to face with clients for
about 1.5 hours per session. I occasionally work on
the telephone.
Rather than working to a prescriptive structure or
script I prefer to let each session find its own natural
rhythm and flow. Rather than 'talking about' your problems
I will support and guide you as you face them and get
to the bottom of them. Rather than papering over the
cracks with further coping strategies we will aim to
find and resolve the causes of the stresses that led
to the cracks appearing in the first place. These causes
my be from your lifetime, generations ago in your family
history or even in a past life. My direct approach often
enables very deep work to be done in a brief timescale.
Every session is different but may well include some
modeling ("And whereabouts in your stomach is that
knot?", "And when you see a bird, then what
happens?); dialoguing ("And if Fred was here now
... what would you like to be able to say to him?");
time line work ("Imagine floating way up above
your life ... and back to the first time that it ever
happened ..."); spatial work ("Move to a space
in the room that knows about ..."); visualization
("And if you were to imagine being there now ...");
technique learning (such as 'ha' breathing, meridian
tapping or peripheral vision).
During sessions I am very attentive to all my senses
- especially to my sense of external feeling. This ability
could be called rapport, empathy, intuition or clairsentience.
I use it to sense of the emotional structures in and
around a client in order to choose and pace my communications.
I work flexible hours from 8am to 8pm most
week days and occasionally at weekends. We
should be able to find a mutually convenient time to
work together.
The session rate depends on the day of the week and
the time your session starts. We agree the length of
a session up front ... usually an hour and a half charged
pro-rata.
Weekday up to 3.30pm: £50
per hour
Weekday after 3.30pm: £60
per hour
Weekend any time: £70 per
hour
In addition to this I keep a £50 fully refundable
deposit from all my clients to insure me against late
cancellations.
I practice from my home office in One Bartholomew
Square, Bethnal Green, East London E1 5PH.
It is a 3 minute walk from Bethnal Green overground
station (from Liverpool Street station), a 4 minute
walk from Bethnal Green Underground station (Central
line) and a 7 minute walk from Whitechapel underground
station (District, Hammersmith & City and East London
lines).
Do you sometimes feel as if you are on an emotional roller-coaster?
Do seemingly small things stir up strong feelings of anger,
sadness, fear, guilt or depression? You try to push the
feelings away but they keep on coming back stronger and
stronger? Have you considered the potential benefits of
finding a Hypnotherapist
In East London ?
An NLP
in East London perspective on this is that uncomfortable
emotions build up over time because they were not fully
resolved in the moment they arose. NLP
in East London works with the idea that situations
in the now can bring back emotions that have been growing
since childhood. Rather than helping us to react to situations
they begin to be a burden … our overreactions can become
difficult for those we live and work with. The constant
presence of these emotions demanding our attention distorts
our experience of life and we can begin to perceive the
world as a negative place to be. As some point we consider
the possibility of seeing a Psychotherapist
in East London
Working with a Hypnotherapist
in East London to release emotions from your memories
or directly from your body lets you return to a normal
calm, relaxed state of being that many people describe
as like 'coming home'. The energy that was trapped inside
becomes available to you again and you become balanced.
After Hypnosis
in East London you will still experience emotions
but they are appropriate to the situation and you can
work with them rather than against them. You will have
more choices over your actions and may find that situations
that used to cause you problems simply do not develop
any more.
Do you expect certain situations to go badly, feel
bad about it, perform badly and prove yourself right?
Do you avoid certain situations entirely? Are you
trying to keep up appearances but feel hollow inside
- as if you are about to cave in? Deep down inside
do you believe that you are a failure, not good enough,
a bad person or unworthy? Have you considered the
potential benefits of finding a Psychotherapist
In East London ?
At certain times in our lives the images we have
built for ourselves can begin to get a bit shaky as
aspects of ourselves we have ignored come to the surface
and demand our attention. An NLP
In East London perspective on this is that seemingly
complex situations are often underpinned by the limiting
beliefs about ourselves that we took on early in our
lives. NLP
In East London takes it that these beliefs affect
the way we perceive the world, the way we feel in
ourselves, the way we act and, therefore, the results
that we get. The cycle continues.
By working with a Psychotherapist
In East London to resolve the underlying issues
you are able to stop acting. Limiting beliefs disappear
when you realize, at the deepest level, that they
are not and never were actually true. If you can make
good use of Hypnotherapy
In East London then your natural confidence returns
and you feel whole again. You can behave and interact
in an authentic way - allowing others to see the real
you.
Are you terrified at even the thought of something?
Spiders, injections, flying, heights, crowds, confined
spaces? Does the fear manifest itself into physical
symptoms? Does the fear of your fear prevent you from
doing certain things or going to certain places? Have
you considered the potential benefits of finding a
Hypnotherapist
In East London ?
An NLP
In East London perspective is that phobias and
panic attacks are intense fears and stress reactions
which occur as a response to very specific triggers.
They often stem from a single and highly traumatic
experience and are your emotional body's way of trying
to keep you safe. The irony is that the panic and
terror can reduce your ability to take appropriate
action - actually putting you in far more danger.
Unlike 'exposure therapy' (that puts a person into
the situation that they are reacting to until they
can manage their emotions and, perhaps, develop a
phobia of psychologists!) the NLP
In East London approach is to work with the source
of the reactions and is designed to be as comfortable
as possible at all times. It will help you to have
the benefits of awareness without the negative consequences.
By making good use of Hypnotherapy
In East London you may not actually like the thing
you used to dread but you will have regained a sense
of perspective and have more choices available to
you.
Become free of habits and compulsions such as smoking,
nail-biting and eating disorders
Are you finding that your habits or compulsions
are causing you increasing levels of discomfort or
affecting the way you behave around others? Are you
worried that unless you make some changes your future
health and relationships are likely to suffer? Are
you determined to stop but feel that something is
preventing you from making that change? Have you considered
the potential benefits of finding a Psychotherapist
In East London ?
An NLP
In East London perspective on habits and compulsions
is that they can feel so difficult to change because
they can involve many interrelated issues: the 'physical'
addiction, limiting beliefs around self image or what
is possible, emotions that the habit helps us to avoid,
internal conflict due to the 'pleasure' being lost,
unconscious responses to trigger situations and the
reactions of friends and family to the change in behaviour.
Though it is not always necessary to consult a Psychotherapist
In East London Trying to 'break' the pattern or
(nicotine) patch it up without addressing all the
underlying issues may well make it stronger or lead
to an alternative addiction or compulsion developing.
Because of the complexity of factors involved passive
'one size fits all' Hypnosis
In East London approaches may not achieve the
lasting results they promise. For a complete and lasting
solution it is best to identify the particular issues
which affect you and resolve them all. When you have
made good use of Psychotherapy
In East London you will find that the addiction
or compulsion lets go and leaves you in control again.
Do you look in the mirror and hate what you see?
Do you eat foods that you know are not right for you
and then feel guilty afterwards? Does the thought
of the gym fill you with dread? Fed up with yo-yo
dieting? Have you considered the potential benefits
of finding a Hypnotherapist
In East London ?
Everyone knows that having the body you desire is
all about eating well and taking appropriate exercise.
Sometimes certain foods can seem so tempting that
they are difficult to resist. An NLP
In East London perspective on this is that previous
bad experiences of exercise can form negative associations
which make it difficult to enjoy it. The goals we
set ourselves can be focused on what we don't want
- causing us to loose motivation as we achieve success.
NLP
In East London is aware that the deeper problem
may be that we do not feel comfortable with or worthy
of the attention that will come when we look more
attractive.
The first step toward changing your body is changing
your mind: identifying patterns, learning from the
past and transforming any barriers to success. If
you work with a Hypnotherapist
In East London then by gaining a deep understanding
what is really important to you you will be able to
focus your energy more fully on what you want to achieve.
You will set realistic and motivating goals and enjoy
the process of feeling and looking fitter.
Are you suffering from an injury or dis-ease of
some sort? Have you found that 'conventional' medicine
has not achieved the results you desire (or has unwelcome
side effects)? Are you keen to learn to utilise your
mind to accelerate the healing process? Have you considered
the potential benefits of finding a Psychotherapist
In East London ?
The existence of psychosomatic illnesses and the
placebo effect are well documented. Controversial
cutting-edge research is making explicit links between
unexpected traumatic emotional events and the existence
of cancer in the body. Quantum level theories are
beginning to describe the link between thought and
matter. NLP
In East London takes these perspectives on board
and thinks about wellness in a new and holistic way.
Working with a Psychotherapist
In East London to release negative emotions and
any limiting beliefs about your dis-ease will enable
you to relax more fully and allow the natural healing
process to take it's course. This healing may be accelerated
by using a Hypnotherapist
in East London to help your mind to concentrate
your energy on making you well again.
I recommend that you consult your GP first if you
feel unwell. If you are currently under treatment
I will require a letter of consent from your GP before
we start working together.
Do you feel unable to find that special someone?
Do you consistently seem to attract the 'wrong' type
of person? Do you find yourself putting on an act
when you talk to a potential partner? Have you considered
the potential benefits of finding a Hypnotherapist
In East London ?
It is easy to blame external factors for a lack
of suitable partner; the first step is to take responsibility
for the situation. An NLP
In East London perspective on this is that unresolved
issues inside us lead us to unconsciously seek out
relationships which support or fuel them. If we do
not genuinely love and respect ourselves we send out
the message that we are not deserving of these feelings
back. When we try to cover up our insecurities we
can come across as arrogant or superficial.
Working with a Psychotherapist
In East London can help you to gain a real understanding
of what is important to you will help you to let go
of any fears and limiting beliefs and focus on what
you really want in a relationship. Realising what
is attractive about yourself will help you to project
this to others. By making good use of Hypnotherapy
In East London you can begin to enjoy going out
there, meeting new people, being natural, friendly
and flirtatious.
Problems in the family or primary relationship?
Are you hurt by or hurting the people you love most?
Are the relationships worth saving? Have you considered
the potential benefits of finding a Psychotherapist
In East London ?
When we are close to people we tend to hold back
less and say things in the heat of the moment. An
NLP
In East London perspective on this is that we
often assume that we know what people are thinking
and interpret their behaviour in one way when their
actual intention may be completely different. Eventually
the very sight or thought of someone can trigger negative
emotions from the past - creating new problems now.
Working with a Psychotherapist
In East London can help you to be honest with
each other about the way things are now and develop
a shared sense of what you would like your relationship
to be like in the future. By making good use of Hypnotherapy
In East London you can regain your sense of connection,
appreciate the best in each other and choose how you
would like to continue.
I believe it is best but not essential for all parties
involved to decide to work through things together.
I never see people who have been 'sent' to me.
Do you want to be able to relax and let go in bed?
Do you want to experience more or better orgasms?
Want to learn to help your partner to experience more
pleasure? Have you considered the potential benefits
of finding a Hypnotherapist
In East London ?
Sex is one of are most basic and natural instinctive
acts - a joining at the physical, emotional and spiritual
levels. NLP
In East London teaches that many things can prevent
us from sharing this connection: guilt, fear, self-image
issues, inhibitions, childhood trauma, performance
anxiety, lack of sex drive, sexual incompatibility
and the like. According to NLP
In East London a sexual problem can often have
it's roots in other aspects of our life.
Working as a single or a couple with a Psychotherapist
In East London you will learn to be open and honest
about the way that you feel. You will explore what
you would like sex to be like and what needs to change
in order to experience it. Change work may include
releasing energy blocks in the body, emotions and
deciding to live by new values. A Hypnotherapist
In East London may give you practical assignments
to help you to rediscover your sexual self and each
other. All clients are encouraged to read my book
'Sex in Mind'.
